Services, agriculture top Autonomous Administration meeting with notables in Syria’s Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Issues related to agriculture, fuel and bread topped a meeting between the Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates Region and tribal notables and social figures from the southern countryside of Kobani and Sirrin town, north Syria, on Saturday.
The meeting came within a series of meetings by the Autonomous Administration to find out the service and social requests of the residents of the region.
“We discussed the problems and demands of the residents; which are fuel, agriculture, bread, water, and gas,” said Muhammad Habib, a resident of the village of Barkhabatan, 30 km south of Kobani.
“The participants discussed political, legal and other issues regarding justice, but the service issue was the main topic of the discussion,” he added.
The Autonomous Administration’s delegation of the Euphrates region included, the Executive Council, the Relations Office, the Internal Board, the Legislative Council and the Justice Board.
About 35 people participated in the meeting, which was held in Omrak village, 30 km south of Kobani.
“We discussed with the Autonomous Administration delegation our demands regarding services; fuel, road construction in addition to the dialogue about the political situation in the region,” said Najeeb Koreh, a resident of Omrak village.
He added that the delegation recognized the citizens’ requests, like inquiring of the Justice Board about issues related to the detainees and how to find out their place of detention and their charges.
“Our region depends on agriculture. It is the source of income of the residents; that is why we asked to be provided with fuel,” Koreh referred.
During the last agricultural season, the reduction of the agricultural lands’ allocations of fuel caused problems for the farmers.
“We discussed services, judicial, justice, and even security issues during the meeting,” said Fayza Abdi, the co-chair of the Legislative Council of the Euphrates region.
On June 26, the Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates region held a meeting with the tribal notables and social figures form Sirrin town, south of Kobani, within a series of meetings to find out the service and social requests of the residents.
“We are a societal administration; we care about meeting with the people to hear their requests and try to fulfill them as much as possible,” Abdi added.
