Global Coalition denies Syria missile attack on US forces
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the official military spokesperson for Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), Col. Wayne Marotto, denied in a tweet reports that US forces in Syria had been subjected to a missile attack.
Several websites, including the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, reported that explosions resounded in al-Omar oil field, the largest base of the coalition in Syria, as a result of missiles that fell in the field’s residences launched from the areas of influence of the Iranian factions in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
“There is no truth to the reports that U.S. forces in Syria were attacked by rockets today,” Marotto tweeted on Sunday.
A few days ago, Marotto stated American forces in Syria were subjected to a missile attack which caused no casualties among American forces.
He pointed out that a member of the enemy forces was wounded when the US forces responded to the incoming missiles.
“Two rockets of unknown origin fell on the western side of the al-Omar field in Deir ez-Zor, which our forces use as advanced bases to pursue ISIS sleeper cells,” said Farhad Shami, the SDF Media Center director, on Sunday.
“No casualties were recorded among the SDF fighters,” Shami added.
