Government forces continue to shell Syria’s Idlib, Hama
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the de-escalation zone in Idlib and Hama, northwest Syria, witnessed a renewed mutual shelling between the Syrian armed opposition factions and the Syrian government forces amid intense flight of Russian drones.
“Syrian regime forces bombed the armed factions’ positions in the towns of al-Ziyara and al-Ankawi and the outskirts of the town of Zayzon in the Ghab Plain, west of Hama,” military sources of the opposition told North Press.
Also, the government forces continued to shell sites in the villages and towns of Kansafra, al-Fatira, al-Rami, Kafr Shalaya and Kafr Halaya in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with missiles and artillery shells, causing significant material damage to public and private properties, according to opposition sources.
A military source of the National Front for Liberation told North Press that the al-Fath al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several factions, bombed the positions of the government forces in the town of Basqala, the village of al-Dar al-Kabira and the city of Saraqib with artillery shells.
A similar bombing targeted the village of Tanjara, west of Hama, according to the same source.
The mutual shelling coincided with intense flight of Russian drones over the Idlib, Hama, Aleppo and Latakia countryside.
Yesterday, the government forces and Russian warplanes escalated their ground and air bombardments on the villages and towns of Zawiya Mountain, killing and wounding more than 15 civilians, including children, according to civil defense teams.
