SDF member killed in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was killed on Wednesday-Thursday night when unidentified gunmen on a motorbike shot him in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, and the SDF arrested two ISIS members suspected of carrying out the operation.
A local military source in the town of Suwaidan, 70 km east of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that SDF member lost his life as gunmen shot him while he was travelling on the main road in the town near his military service headquarters.
He added that hours later, SDF forces arrested two ISIS elements suspected of carrying out the operation.
In their possession were individual Kalashnikovs and mobile phones, including evidence of their affiliation with ISIS, according to the source.
Recently, the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing intensive kidnappings and assassinations of the SDF, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), notables, sheikhs and civilians.
On Monday, ISIS claimed the assassination of a civilian on charges of dealing with the SDF near the oil tankers in the town of Thiban in the eastern countryside of Deir Ez-Zor.
Two days ago, SDF arrested 17 members of ISIS sleeper cells, with Global Coalition air support, in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
