SDF arrests members of ISIS sleeper cell in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested three people accused of being affiliated with ISIS in a town, east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria. 

“The SDF, with the US-led Global Coalition air and ground support, managed to arrest three ISIS members during a meeting in al-Shabakah neighborhood in the town of al-Shuhail,” said a military source from al-Shuhail town.

The operation came on the basis of intelligence information, and the arrested members were accused of conducting assassinations, the source added. 

During the operation, Kalashnikovs and military vests were found with the arrested people, the source noted. 

On June 1, the SDF arrested an ISIS sleeper cell which were forcing residents to pay zakat to ISIS, in the town of Jdaidat Akidat, east of Deir ez-Zor.
