Opposition groups foil government’s advance in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Turkish-backed armed opposition groups managed to foil an attempted advance by Syrian government forces in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, northwest Syria.
Groups of al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room managed to foil an advance attempt by the government forces in Ruwaiha area, east of Zawiya Mountain, military sources from the opposition told North Press.
Al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room includes several armed groups as they fight in the Idlib and Hama countryside.
Al-Fateh al-Mubin killed and wounded many government soldiers after targeting them with heavy and medium weapons, the sources added.
North Press Agency was unable to obtain independent sources to confirm or deny the information received.
Meanwhile, the government forces targeted the posts of the armed groups in the villages and towns of Kansafra, Sufuhn, al-Fatirah, Fleifel, Kafar Oweid, and the outskirts of al-Bara and Ruwaiha, south of Idlib, with missiles and heavy artillery shells.
Additionally, the government forces stationed in Jorin Camp, west of Hama, shelled the armed groups’ posts in Ghab Plain.
The Syrian armed groups shelled the Syrian government’s posts in Jarada, southeast of Idlib, and several areas in Zawiya Mountain with heavy artillery shells.
