HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Internal Security Forces (Asayish) found the body of an Iraqi refugee in Hawl Camp, east Hasakah, a security source in the camp said, on Saturday.
20-year-old Iraqi refugee Khalaf Mesalih Hammad was shot by unknown individuals in the first sector in Hawl Camp on Friday, the source indicated.
Following the security campaign launched by Asayish supported by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in late March, Hawl Camp has witnessed two killings.
On April 17, an Iraqi refugee was killed and two Iraqi refugees and a Syrian IDP were wounded by gunshots fired by unknown individuals in the first sector.
Since early 2021, Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells have killed 47 persons inside the camp, according to a statement recently released by Asayish.
