Sheikhs of Arab tribes visit Syria’s Qamishli, show support to Asayish
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday afternoon, a delegation of notables and sheikhs of Arab tribes visited al-Tai neighborhood in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, where the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) have recently taken control.
The delegation included sheikhs and tribal notables in addition to Arab figures known in the regions of Raqqa, Tabqa and Deir ez-Zor.
During their visit, the delegation met officials of the Asayish noting that they came from remote regions to Qamishli to show their support to the Asayish.
On Wednesday morning, Russian forces conducted a joint patrol with the Asayish in al-Tai neighborhood with two Russian helicopters flying over the city.
Since the expulsion of the NDF, Russian military police have been conducting two joint patrols a day with the Asayish to ensure the validity of the armistice agreement and closely follow the conditions of the neighborhood.
On April 25, the Asayish announced the reaching of a permanent ceasefire under the auspices of the Syrian Democratic Forces and Russian military forces.
For about a week, the neighborhood witnessed violent clashes between the Asayish and the “National Defense” groups loyal to the Syrian government, which ended with the Asayish taking control of the neighborhood southern Qamishli.
Since yesterday, the Asayish has been working to secure the needs of the neighborhood’s residents, such as bread, fuel, and electricity, after the return of most of the residents who fled the neighborhood due to the clashes near their homes.
The municipality’s workshops and the energy directorates of the Autonomous Administration began providing cleaning and electricity services in the neighborhood with the continued return of residents.
The Kurdish Red Crescent organization also established a medical point at al-Wehda Roundabout at the entrance to the neighborhood to receive patients who need urgent health care.
