QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a military source of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that their forces arrested members of ISIS sleeper cells in Qamishli and Deir ez-Zor, northeast of Syria.

The SDF Special Units arrested a prominent member of ISIS in the village of Jasem, in al-Sowar region, in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The arrested militant’s cell “facilitates the securing of weapons and transferring them to the organization,” according to the source.

The Special Units arrested “another member of ISIS”, during a security operation in al-Sabha area in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The arrested terrorist’s task was “facilitating the work of other sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor region,” according to the source.

In the town of Tel Hamis, in the countryside of Qamishli, the SDF arrested “a member of ISIS and confiscated a quantity of weapons and equipment he possessed.”

The three operations were conducted with support by the US-led Global Coalition forces, which came “as part of the steps to secure the area and prevent the activity of ISIS sleeper cells.”
