KRG Prime Minister meets EU consuls and representatives in Erbil
ERBIL, Iraq (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Masrour Barzani met consuls and representatives of the European Union countries in Erbil.
During the meeting, Barzani said that the Iraqi government has not sent the salaries to the region for ten months.
He expressed his hope for a radical solution to the outstanding issues with the federal government, especially the situation of the disputed areas.
The meeting discussed the situation in the Kurdistan Region and the relations with the federal government, as well as ways to strengthen relations between Kurdistan Region and the European Union.
“The Kurdistan Region is committed to implementing the budget law in return for Baghdad to fulfill its obligations regarding its financial dues,” Barzani added.
He called on the Iraqi government to fulfill its obligations towards the Kurdistan Region, indicating that it has not sent any salaries to Kurdistan Region for ten months.
He expressed his hope that the approval of the Iraqi Parliament on the Budget Law would be a good start to find a radical solution to other outstanding issues according to the constitution, especially the implementation of Article 140 and the normalization of conditions in the Kurdish regions outside the administration of the regional government.
“This will have a positive impact on the security and stability of Iraq,” he noted.
Barzani indicated that Kurdistan Region will provide all necessary facilities for foreign and local investors to develop investment in all fields.
