Turkish forces break up clashes between their armed groups in Syria’s Sere Kaniye

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday-Monday night, clashes erupted between two pro-Turkish armed groups in the city of Sere Kaniye, resulting in the killing and wounding of both parties, which led the Turkish forces to intervene.

A resident of the town, who preferred not to be named, told North Press that the sound of machine guns and RPG shells frightened civilians.

The clashes continued until early this morning, he added.

Accounts close to the armed groups published that the clashes were between the Sultan Murad Division and Ahrar al-Sharqiya.

No faction intervened to break clashes, while Sultan Murad Division rushed to help its militants after members of Ahrar al-Sharqiya targeted them, according to information received.

Another source from Sere Kaniye reported that the Turkish forces intervened to break clashes after shells fell on the Turkish borders.

Since 2019, the Turkish forces and pro-Turkish factions took over the regions of Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad after attacks on the region.
