SDF member killed in Syria’s east Deir ez-Zor countryside

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, a Syrian Democratic Forces member lost his life and another was wounded after their vehicle was fired on by unknown individuals riding a motorbike in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, east Syria.

The masked armed men were riding a motorbike in the town of Theban, 50 kilometers east Deir ez-Zor, and they opened fire at the car while passing on the main road, killing an SDF member and wounding another who was transferred to a military hospital for treatment, a local military source told North Press.

The eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside has been recently witnessing assassinations carried out against SDF members, employees of the civil administration, tribal figures, and civilians in the area.

SDF has intensified their military operations in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor to pursue Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells and militants that are still posing a threat to residents and employees.

Two days ago, Watin Muhammad Ali and Muhammad Rashid al-Muhaymid, who were working in al-Bir and Ihsan charity Association, were killed after being fired on by unknown attackers in the town of Shuhail, east Deir ez-Zor countryside.
