Leader of reconciliation groups killed in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the leader of the settlement groups, Ayoub al-Sha’abin, was killed in the eastern countryside of Daraa governorate, southern Syria.
Local sources told North Press that al-Sha’abin was shot to death by unidentified individuals in the town of Saida, in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
Al-Sha’abin was a former military leader within the ranks of a local group called the Yarmouk Brigade, before the government took control of the area in 2018, the sources indicated.
Since the beginning of the settlement agreement and his accession to the Military Security Department, al-Sha’abin was subjected to several assassination attempts, according to the sources.
Daraa is witnessing mutual assassinations between anti-government local groups and pro-government ones, against individuals who made settlements in 2018.
