Lockdown measures are good though affecting many: residents of Syria’s northeast

AMUDA, Syria (North Press) – Residents of the town of Amuda, northeast Syria, agree that the measures of the complete lockdown to limit the spread of coronavirus are ”good” though they affect many who depend on daily wages.

”The measures of the lockdown are good and should have been imposed one or two months before Ramadan,” Shiyar Berri, worker in remittance office in Amuda said.

“The lockdown is good but it affects those depend on daily wages,” he added.

While Muhammad Suleiman Mella, a vegetables Shopkeeper told North Press that purchasing is somehow weak due to coronavirus spread.

“People come to the market only to buy their necessary goods and immediately return to their houses,” he added.

He pointed out that the lockdown is good, but the measures “should not be tightened” so that people would not be afraid.

For his part, Ridwan Hassan, a bakery observer, said that the situation is hard to the extent that people cannot endure.

“We have to help each other. What is required more is to protect ourselves from coronavirus,” he added.

He stated that the lockdown measures and the presence of the Asayish members is for the benefit of the residents.

During the past days, North Press posted videos and reports which showed violations of the lockdown in major cities.
