Minister of Education in Syrian opposition-held areas resigns

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Minister of Education in the Syrian Interim Government of the Opposition Coalition, Huda al-Absi submitted her resignation, noting she will reveal the reasons in the near future.

Al-Absi’s resignation comes days after the opposition coalition imposed a material on the Syrian revolution in the opposition-controlled areas’ schools, likely to be in line with the Turkish perspective.

In a statement posted on her Facebook account, al-Absi said that she remained in office until she finished the projects that she had.

The last stage of her work was “full of difficulties, obstacles, challenges and unavailable potentials,” she added.

“We will have meetings in the near future to clarify all the mysteries, difficulties and frustrations that we exposed while in office,” al-Absi noted.

She justified the postponement of her disclosure by saying, “We will reveal everything when we are certain that this will not affect the reputation of our institutions, our government and our blessed revolution.”

Recently, press reports revealed corruption cases affecting prominent figures in the opposition coalition, and the abuse of their positions for their personal interests.

The relationship between the Minister of Education and the Head of the Syrian Interim Government, Abdulrahman Mustafa, witnessed sharp differences.

The differences led Mustafa to dismiss al-Absi from her post as minister, but the decision closed.

In a letter addressed to the coalition, al-Absi rejected the prime minister’s decision regarding her dismissal and appointing a new education board, according to press reports.
