Five deaths and 199 coronavirus infections in Northeast Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced the recording of 199 new coronavirus infections and 5 deaths in northeast Syria.
AANES’ Facebook page quoted Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board, who stated that the deaths were two women and a man from Tabqa, a man from Qamishli, and a woman from Hasakah.
Most of the infections today, were concentrated in Qamishli 57 cases, Hasakah 39, Derik 35, Raqqa 23, Tabqa 17, Kobani 16, Manbij 8, and Derbasiya 4.
Meanwhile, the AANES Health Board recorded 8 new recoveries.
With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has reached 13, 203 confirmed cases, including 442 deaths and 1,407 recoveries.
This new toll comes on the second week of the lockdown imposed in the northeastern regions of Syria.
On April 13, the AANES imposed a complete lockdown in all its areas of control in northeast Syria for 10 days.
On April 12, the Health Board issued an urgent appeal to all international organizations, primarily the WHO, to immediately intervene and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in northeast Syria.
