SDF arrests ISIS members in Syria’s Hasakah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Our forces managed to arrest two ISIS members in Hawl region, northeast Syria, a source of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Wednesday.
“One of the two was a judge during ISIS rule on vast spaces of the Syrian territories between 2014 and 2019,” the source added.
The arrest was accomplished during a security operation in Hawl region, which includes a camp full of ISIS families and run by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), according to the source.
In the past days, the SDF Special Forces arrested a leader and two members of the ISIS sleeper cells during three separate security operations in the countryside of Qamishli, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor.
On March 28, the SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish), the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) launched a security operation in Hawl Camp.
Earlier this month, the Asayish announced, through a statement, the arrest of 125 ISIS sleeper cells, 20 of them were responsible for assassinations took place within the camp.
