Syria’s Autonomous Administration announces 6 coronavirus deaths, 201 infections

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced the recording of 201 new coronavirus infections and 6 deaths in northeast Syria.

AANES’ Facebook page quoted Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board, who stated that the deaths are two women and a man from Hasakah, a man and a woman from Qamishli, and a man from Amuda.

The infections were 118 males and 38 females, according to Mustafa.

The infections were 54 in Qamishli, 56 in Hasakah, 50 in Derik, 8 in Derbasiya, and 33 in Raqqa.

Meanwhile, the AANES Health Board recorded 13 new recoveries. 

With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has reached 12,437 confirmed cases, including 428 deaths and 1,378 recoveries.

This new toll comes on the seventh day of the lockdown in the northeastern regions of Syria.

AANES imposed a complete lockdown after its regions witnessed a remarkable increase in the numbers of coronavirus infections.
