Tabqa Health Committee: Lack of commitment to preventative measures increased coronavirus infections

TABQA, Syria (North Press) – Nawras Ibrahim, co-chair of the Health Committee in the city of Tabqa, west of Raqqa, northern Syria, said that the residents’ lack of commitment to coronavirus preventative measures has led to an increase in the number of infections in the city of Tabqa.

On Sunday, the city of Tabqa recorded 40 new cases of coronavirus, out of a total of 298 cases in northern and eastern Syria, and three deaths, according to the Health Authority of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

On Sunday, AANES imposed a complete lockdown in all of the areas it controls in northeast Syria, which will last from Tuesday, April 13 until Thursday, April 22.

Ibrahim told North Press that the partial lockdown that was applied in the city was not adhered to, and the residents did not adhere to the preventative measures as required.

Tabqa includes two quarantine centers, one of which is four halls in the Sports City, one of its part is designated for suspected cases, a second for the infected cases, a third for severe cases and a fourth for disabled people, while the second center is for advanced critical infected cases that need to be monitored.

She called on the residents of Tabqa to adhere to preventative measures to protect themselves and their families.
