Triage Department in Syria’s Raqqa: 50% positive coronavirus test rate

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Muhammad Jaber, supervisor of the Triage Department in Raqqa, said that the number of positive coronavirus tests has exceeded 50% of the total number of people who were swabbed.

The Triage is a newly created department at Raqqa National Hospital responsible for screening suspected cases of coronavirus and taking medical swabs for them.

Jaber added, in a statement to North Press, that the last few days have witnessed a dangerous increase in the number of infected cases in the third wave that passes over the region.

On Sunday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) imposed complete lockdown in all of the areas it controls in northeast Syria, the lockdown will take effect on Tuesday, April 13 until Thursday, April 22 in all the AANES-held areas.

Jaber indicated that the quarantine centers and the health sector in Raqqa have raised the level of medical readiness during the last period.

Jaber pointed to the importance of the residents’ commitment to the lockdown measures to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus, and noted that the population does not take the virus seriously.

On Sunday, the Health Authority in the Autonomous Administration recorded three deaths and 298 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number to 12,236, including 422 deaths and 1,365 recoveries.
