Tension between Turkish-backed armed groups in Syria’s Afrin

AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the city of Afrin in the northern countryside of Aleppo witnessed  military tension between the Levant Front and pro-Turkish Military Police due to the latter’s arrest of a member of the Levant Front.

A local source told North Press that members of the Levant Front deployed within the Vilaat and al-Ashrafiya neighborhoods in the city, and they indiscriminately fired their weapons after one of their members was arrested by the military police.

The members of the Levant Front set checkpoints near Newroz and al-Qaban Roundabouts, the source added.

The tension is still ongoing, according to the source.

The areas of control of the Turkish-backed armed groups have been witnessing assassinations and arrest accompanied by repeated explosions amid the armed groups’ failure to set security in the region.
