Iranian-backed groups receive military, logistic reinforcements in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Iranian-backed groups in Syria’s east received military and logistic reinforcements, a local source from the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor said.
The reinforcements included military Hummer vehicles in addition to medium and heavy machine guns with ammunition and amounts of medical and first aid supplies, according to the source.
The reinforcements aim to counter the Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells and strengthen the influence in the villages of Deir ez-Zor, Amer al-Hassan (pseudonym), an official in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard-backed Liwa Fatemiyoun told North Press.
“This takes place through the border and supervised and funded financially and logistically by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,” the source added.
“The reinforcements were distributed to posts on the outskirts of the cities of al-Mayadeen and al-Bukamal, as part of them was sent to the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor,” he pointed out.
On Saturday morning, those vehicles and military equipment passed in through the desert routes, which connect the Syrian-Iraqi borders east Deir ez-Zor, amid intensive flight by an unidentified drone.
