Residents’ commitment to complete lockdown good: Euphrates Region Crisis Management

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, co-chair of the Euphrates Region Health Board Ahmed Mahmud said that the residents’ commitment to the complete lockdown “is acceptable; however, it is necessary for people to show better commitment during the coming days to reduce the transmission of infection from the infected people to other healthy ones.”

The Health Board demanded the Crisis Management Team in Euphrates Region impose a complete lockdown against the outbreak of coronavirus among people, Mahmud told North Press.

On Friday, a complete lockdown was imposed due to the rapid increase of coronavirus cases.

The decision was made after the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) had imposed a partial lockdown in its areas of control accompanied by total lockdown in Raqqa, Hasakah, and Qamishli on April 3.

Mahmud pointed out that the rising rate of infections necessitate the implementation of a complete lockdown in the region.

“Meanwhile, if the trend continues to rise, there will be either a partial or other complete lockdown following the current one,” he added.

The complete lockdown in the Euphrates Region included a ban on movement and the closing of public facilities such as wedding halls, places of worship, parks, restaurants, cafeterias, sports clubs, commercial and industrial stores, and clothing stores.

On Friday, the AANES Health Board recorded 236 new coronavirus infections including five deaths, bringing the total toll in northeast Syria to 11,769 infections including 415 deaths and 1,354 recoveries.
