Syria’s AANES records 200 coronavirus infections and 5 deaths

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced the recording of 200 new coronavirus infections and five deaths in northeast Syria.

AANES’ Facebook page quoted Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board, who stated that the deaths are two men and a woman from Qamishli, a man from Hasakah and a woman from Kobani.

The infections were 121 males and 79 females, according to Mustafa.

In the Jazira region, the infections were 62 in Qamishli, 37 in Hasakah, 39 in Derik, and 6 in Derbasiya.

While in the Euphrates region they were 17 in Raqqa, 26 in Tabqa, 8 Kobani and 5 Manbij.

Meanwhile, the AANES Health Board recorded 9 new recoveries.

With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has reached 11,533 confirmed cases, including 410 deaths and 1,351 recoveries.

This new toll comes on the third day of the lockdown in the northeastern regions of Syria.

AANES decided to impose a complete and partial lockdown after its regions witnessed a remarkable increase in the numbers of coronavirus infections.

The complete lockdown began in the cities of Raqqa, Qamishli, and Hasakah on April 6, and will continue for a week.
