Turkish-backed armed groups thwart Syrian government advance in Hama
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday at dawn, Turkish backed armed groups foiled Syrian government forces’ attempts to advance in Ghab Plain, in the western countryside of Syria’s Hama.
A local military source told North Press that members of Jaysh al-Nasr Faction, a Syrian opposition armed faction in the countryside of Hama, foiled Syrian government forces’ attempts of advance in the al-Ainkawi village, northwest of Hama.
The source reported no casualties or material damage.
Since the start of 2021, this is the sixth attempt to advance on the al-Ainkawi axis, according to the source.
On January 11, 11 members of the armed groups were killed during the government and Russian forces’ attempts to advance in Ghab Plain.
The military escalation came within the de-escalation zone, despite the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement signed on March 5, after a Russian-Turkish summit, following a military escalation in the countryside of Aleppo.
