Armed groups shell government posts in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Syrian  Turkish-backed armed groups in Idlib, northwest Syria, shelled the government posts on the frontlines in the south Idlib countryside.

“Groups of Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room that includes Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS), Jaysh al-Izza (Army of Glory), and the National Front for Liberation that is affiliated with the Syrian National Army shelled government posts in south Idlib,” a local source told North Press.

Heavy artillery shelling and Grad missiles targeted the village of al-Jarada in Zawiya Mountain, in the south Idlib countryside, according to the source.

On Thursday, Turkish-backed armed groups shelled government posts on the frontlines in the city of Kafr Nubul and the village of Malaja, south Idlib countryside.

The military escalation comes within the de-escalation zone, despite the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement signed on March 5, after a Russian-Turkish summit, following military escalation in the countryside of Idlib.
