Hospital in Syria’s Damascus sets conditions for accepting coronavirus patients

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the director of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Hospital, Maher Haddad, stipulated a decrease in the oxygenation rate of coronavirus patients to less than 88% and a decrease in blood pressure to accept them in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“The patient’s admission to the ICU is done in case the oxygen level in blood is less than 88%, and their his/her case does not respond to oxygen support, with a decrease in blood pressure,” SANA quoted Haddad saying.

State-owned hospitals in Damascus are witnessing great overcrowding with coronavirus patients, in light of these hospitals inability to receive new patients, according to a previous statement by a member of the advisory team to confront coronavirus, Dr. Nabugh al-Awa.

On March 31, the Media Office of the Syrian Ministry of Health announced that 11 deaths and 134 new cases of coronavirus infections were recorded in the government-held areas.
