Autonomous Administration records 3 coronavirus deaths in Syria’s northeast

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced the recording of three deaths and 86 new coronavirus infections in northeast Syria.

AANES’ Facebook page quoted Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board, who stated that the deaths are a man and woman from Qamishli, and another man from Hasakah.

Recently, the AANES-held areas in Jazira have witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections.

In the Jazira region, the recorded infections were 30 in Qamishli, 18 in Hasakah, 14 in Derik, four in Derbasiya, and one in Tel Tamr.

There were also 11 infections recorded in Raqqa, seven in Deir ez-Zor, and one case in the Shahba area in the northern countryside of Aleppo, where those displaced by the Turkish invasion of Afrin reside.

With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has reached 9,221 confirmed cases, including 358 deaths and 1,274 recoveries.
