Russia cannot involve in two battles in Syria: military opposition source
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, a military source told North Press that the reason for the extension of the truce in Idlib and the de-escalation zone was Russia’s inability to involve in two battles on two different fronts.
“It is a military necessity for Russia to take over new areas”, the source added.
On February 17, the Astana tripartite stressed “the necessity to continue abiding by all agreements regarding the truce” in Idlib, northwestern Syria.
A military source in the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) said that the Russian-supported Syrian government forces are preparing to launch a military operation in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.
The source added that the government forces withdrew their elite fighters from the southern countryside of Idlib and pushed them to the fronts of the eastern countryside of Aleppo.
