Three bodies found in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Three unknown bodies were found in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, residents of the town of Jadeed Bakkarah, east of Deir ez-Zor, found the bodies of two unidentified youths on the banks of the Euphrates River int the town, a local source told North Press.
Two bodies had signs of torture, and they were taken to the town’s hospital to be identified, according to the source.
Earlier in the day, residents of al-Shuhail town, 40 km east of Deir ez-Zor, found the body of an unidentified young man, and ISIS claimed responsibility for his death.
A local source from the city told North Press that ISIS’ cells left a piece of paper on his body that read, “The Islamic State is remaining and expanding.” They mentioned that this young man belongs to the Syrian government forces and participated in the war against ISIS.
In February, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced a large-scale military operation against ISIS sleeper cells in the desert between the Dashisha and Markadah regions, south of Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor.
Last Thursday, residents of the town of Dhiban, east of Deir ez-Zor, found the body of a young man in the Omar water station, 55 km east of Deir ez-Zor.
