Economic researcher calls on Syria’s Autonomous Administration to support development projects
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, an economic researcher called on the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) to support small and medium economic projects because of their key role in developing the area.
The Euphrates Center for Research organized a symposium under the title of “The Development Role of Small and Medium Projects in the Jazira Area,” with the attendance of several officials from the AANES and those concerned about economic issues.
Economic researcher Shawqi Muhammad, who participated in the symposium, said, “These projects contribute to supporting the economy in the area and increase the demand for workers, thus addressing the problem of poverty and unemployment.”
These projects “can produce goods that replace the imported ones and meet the needs of the local markets,” according to the economic researcher.
Last month, the AANES Economic Board opened a factory to produce vegetable oil at a capacity of 300 tons per day, securing job opportunities for about 300 workers.
Shawqi Muhammad criticized the AANES regarding the insufficient support for these projects, and added that many obstacles have curbed the implementation of such projects.
He described these obstacles as “multiple supervisory parties, changing decisions, obstacles facing exportation of goods, and the absence of organizing and assisting laws for these projects.”
The political and security instability in the area is an additional obstacle to the development of such projects, according to Muhammad.
