Iraqi refugee killed in Syria’s Hawl camp

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) found the body of an Iraqi refugee, who, was said, has been killed with a silencer pistol in Hawl camp, east of Hasakah, on Saturday.

The Iraqi refugee was killed by two shots in the head by unknown persons in the third part of the camp, and that they found his body at five o’clock on Saturday morning, a security source from inside the camp said.

Since the beginning of 2021, the Hawl camp has been witnessing an escalation in the killing of Syrian IDPs and Iraqi refugees, in addition to members of the Asayish.

Last week, the Asayish found the body of an Iraqi refugee in the camp, who was beheaded by unknown persons.

Another security source said, “Since the beginning of 2021, we have arrested a number of ISIS sleeper cells in the camp, with the increase in ISIS activity within the camp and their execution of about 20 killings.”

The source pointed out that investigations are still continuing with the sleeper cells to find out the groups associated with them and cooperating with them to carry out the killings and assassinations in the camp.

Hawl camp consists of nine sections, eight of which are for Iraqi refugees and Syrian IDPs, and another for families of ISIS members.
