IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) released the media activist Nour al-Shilo on Monday after more than four months of detention in HTS prisons in Idlib governorate, northwestern Syria.
The HTS had accused al-Shilo of communicating with the Global Coalition and the Syrian regime, as well as criminal and moral offenses.
Local sources told North Press that HTS released Nour al-Shilo, while the HTS has not yet announced an official release.
The sources pointed out that she is currently among her family, who resides in the city of Atarib in the western countryside of Aleppo.
The mother of al-Shilo stated earlier that HTS arrested her daughter in front of the Atarib court while she was at the court in a case related to the custody of her children on September 15, 2020.
“All the charges against her daughter are invalid and fabricated by the family of her husband, who died eight years ago,” she added.
Activists and journalists in HTS-controlled areas are subjected to harassment, and the group is accused of carrying out arrests and violence against activists and civilians who do not support it in previous incidents.
American journalist Bilal Abdulkarim is one of the most prominent journalists arrested by the HTS, and has been detained by the group since July 23, 2020.
