Turkish forces bombard Syria’s Manbij countryside with missiles

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Turkish forces stationed at their base north of Syria’s Manbij bombarded villages in the northwestern countryside of the city with over 35 artillery shells.

The Manbij Military Council’s Media Center stated on its official website that the shelling came from the Turkish military base in Yalishli, north of Manbij, and lasted about half an hour.

At exactly 10 P.M. on Saturday, shelling targeted the villages of Jamusiyah, Umm Julud, Umm Adasat and Jabal al-Saydiyah northwest of Manbij. The extent of damage is still unknown, and the Media Center stated that damage would be revealed if documented.

In October, Turkish forces targeted the northern countryside of Manbij with heavy weapons, killing a displaced person from the city of Homs and damaging civilian property.

Turkish artillery targeting northern Manbij at the end of December also caused material damage to farmers’ lands and surrounding homes.
