Al-Khabur Club leads first leg of Syrian Women’s Football League
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Al-Khabur Ladies Club led the first leg of the second version of the Syrian Women’s Football League after its victory over the Homs Women’s Club team in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The al-Khabur Women’s Club, which includes women from the cities of the Jazira region, won the Homs Women’s Club in a match held on Tuesday at the Albuchi Stadium in Damascus.
The match ended with a goal to nil, which was scored by Samira Dibo in the eighth and final match of the first leg of the Women’s League.
Coach of the club Dalil al-Bar told North Press that the al-Khabur Women led the first leg with 18 points.
“The return stage will start in two months, and we will try to maintain our position among the nine teams participating in the league,” al-Bar added.
Al-Khabur club topped the league after winning five matches and tied three without losing.
Its victory over the Homs Women’s Club was decisive to lead the league after being ahead of it by goal difference.
The Amude Women’s Club won the first title in January 2020 in the first version of the Syrian Women’s League.
The first leg matches took place in Damascus over a period of 19 days, which put pressure on the teams participating in the second version, which is witnessing strong competition and convergence in levels.
