Turkish forces continue evacuating Tel Tokan post in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Turkish forces continued evacuating their military post in the village of Tel Tokan, after beginning to dismantle it in mid-December.
After Syrian government forces took control of areas in the northern countryside of Hama and southern countryside of Idlib, 12 Turkish posts in the de-escalation zone fell under siege.
On Sunday-Monday night, more than 60 vehicles exited the Tel Tokan military post heading towards Turkish posts in the Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib Governorate, a field source told North Press.
The source added that the vehicles included military and logistical equipment and guard booths, meaning that Turkish forces had evacuated the bulk of the besieged point in the eastern countryside of Idlib.
Turkey has established more than 60 posts and military bases since the Turkish intervention in Syria, while reports stated that it sent more than 12,000 Turkish soldiers and dozens of military vehicles to the area.
