Unknown people kill two Druze fighters in Syria’s Suwayda
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – Unknown people shot two fighters from the local Druze Men of Dignity militia on Tuesday in Syria’s Suwayda, killing them.
The southern Syrian governorates, especially Suwayda and its countryside, have been witnessing a state of security chaos which is destabilizing the area.
The unidentified party killed two young men on their way from the town of Mazra’a, the main bastion for the Men of Dignity, to their town Addour, a local source from the town of Addour who preferred to remain unnamed said.
“The two young men were brothers who joined the Men of Dignity group the year it was established, 2013,” the source explained.
Since Tuesday, the western countryside of Suwayda has been on high alert by independent local groups, which conducted broad combing operations between the towns of Mazra’a and Addour.
Gangs engaging in killing, looting, and kidnapping have roamed the western countryside of Suwayda for years, without deterrence or consequences by the Syrian government apparatuses.
Residents from Suwayda accuse the government security apparatuses, especially the military security and Air Force Intelligence branches, of protecting these gangs in order to implement their own agenda.
