IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces sent on Monday, new reinforcements to the Syrian territories to strengthen its military bases deployed in the de-escalation zone, northwest Syria.
A military convoy of the Turkish forces entered on Monday, the Idlib governorate through the Kafr Lossin border crossing, a field source told North Press.
The source added that the convoy included 30 military vehicles consisting of armored vehicles, self-propelled artillery, and trucks carrying ammunition, logistical and military items where it headed to the bases in the Zawiya Mountain region.
On December 2, two Turkish convoys contained more than 60 vehicles, including armored vehicles, trucks carrying ammunition, logistical materials, and prefabricated rooms entered Idlib and headed to the Turkish bases deployed in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib.
Since their military intervention in Syria, the Turkish forces established more than 60 military points and bases in the governorates of Idlib, Aleppo, Hama and Latakia.
The region is witnessing a military escalation and mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups.
Since March, Idlib and other surrounding areas have been under an agreement between Moscow and Ankara to halt all hostilities in the fourth de-escalation zone.
