Syrian volunteers held charity party in Erbil to support orphans refugees
ERBIL, KRG (North Press) – A group of Syrian volunteers held on Friday a charity party in Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region of Iraq, to support the Syrian refugees’ orphans in the Region.
“The party aims to support the volunteering culture, courage volunteers to cooperate, and help orphans in particular,” Ronaz Ali, the head of the volunteer team from Qamishli, northeastern Syria, told North Press.
The charity party aims to donate its profits to the orphan children in Domiz 1 and Domiz 2 camps after the group conducted a survey about the conditions in the two camps.
The survey revealed that there were 300 orphan children in Domiz 1 and 160 in Domiz 2.
Young people attended the party that was held a month after lifting the lockdown in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, due to a decrease of coronavirus infections.
The name of the group is Together for a Better Society (TBS), according to Ali.
The group includes about 50 Syrian volunteer men and women residing in Kurdistan of Iraq.
Nermin Salman, member of the volunteer team came from Qamishli, said that during a year and a half of the group’s work, they relied on cooperation between volunteers and “coordination with organizations, to finance the costs of some activities.”
Organizers of the event said that the hall and artists donated their wages for the charity party.
The benefits of the party will be distributed on December 25 coinciding with holding other event by the team.
Distribution will be carried out with the participation of 100 orphan children of Syrian refugees in Duhok governorate in Kurdistan Region of Iraq, according to Ronaz Ali.
