Pentagon: Bradley armored vehicles deployed in NE Syria due to Russian military presence

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Commander of the US Central Command, General Kenneth McKenzie, attributed the Pentagon’s decision to deploy M2 Bradley armored vehicles in Syria to Russian military presence in the northeast of the country.

During a virtual conference organized by Defense One, McKenzie held the Russian forces responsible for conducting patrols outside their area of control without coordinating with the American side.

Gen. McKenzie said that the Pentagon concluded, in these circumstances, that sending Bradley armored vehicles to Syria was an appropriate step.

The Pentagon announced the deployment of these armored vehicles in Syria last September, in the first step of its kind since October 2019.
