Government forces continue targeting opposition sites in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian government forces continued on Wednesday, shelling villages and towns in Idlib governorate within the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria that is subject to an agreement between Moscow and Ankara.

A Local source told North Press that the government forces targeted, on Tuesday evening, the opposition’s sites in villages and towns south of Zawiya Mountain, the towns of Kansafra, the villages of Sufuhn, and Feteira south of Idlib.

The source added that the government forces targeted with dozens of shells, the opposition sites in villages and towns in Zawiya Mountain without reports about casualties.

The armed opposition group responded to the government bombing by targeting one of the government sites in Beit Hasanu area, north of Hama, without casualties reported.

The de-escalation zone has been witnessing mutual shelling between the government forces and the opposition groups for months, targeting the governorates of Idlib, Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia.

The Russian-Turkish signed agreement in 2017 and its additional protocol in March 2020 provide for a halt to the military actions in the governorate of Idlib and its surroundings.
