Clashes between opposition groups and residents Syria’s northeast Sere Kaniye

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – Armed clashes took place on Wednesday, between an opposition group and residents from the village of Tel Ziyab, west Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) after the opposition group broke in the village.

The clashes took place because the Hamza group, a Turkish-backed armed opposition group, took over lands of the villagers, a local source from a neighbouring village told North Press.

The Hamza group cordoned off the village and indiscriminately fired on the residents because they rejected the armed group to seize their property, according to the source.

The group arrested several young persons where their fate is unknown, the source stated.

Days ago, a clash took place between the Levant Front group and a known clan in Tel Abyad, which is controlled by the Turkish army and its armed opposition groups, killing two people of the clan, wounding another, and arresting 15 other men.

Earlier in September, the residents of Tel Ziyab protested against the opposition groups after the latter arrested several people regarding their demands to halt violations against them including killing, arresting, and imposing fees.

The cities of Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad near the Syrian-Turkish borders has been under the control of the Turkish forces and its backed armed opposition groups since October 2019 and they have been witnessing a state of security chaos.
