Government forces target opposition sites in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian government forces targeted on Thursday, the Syrian armed opposition fortified headquarters in Zawiya Mountain in the governorate of Idlib, northwestern Syria.
The government forces targeted with dozens of shells, the opposition sites in al-Bara town in Zawiya Mountain, a local source told North Press.
This took place a day after the Turkish forces established a new military post in al-Bara town near the frontlines with the government forces in Kafr Nabl south Idlib.
The source added that the government shelled villages and towns in Zawiya Mountain without reports about casualties.
The de-escalation zone has been witnessing mutual shelling between the government forces and the opposition groups for months, targeting the governorates of Idlib, Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia.
The Russian-Turkish signed agreement in 2017 and its additional protocol in March 2020 provide to halt the military actions in the governorate of Idlib and its surroundings.
