Government forces continue targeting opposition groups’ sites northwestern Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian government forces continued on Friday, targeting the sites of the armed opposition groups in the de-escalation zone which is subject to the ceasefire agreement in northwestern Syria.

A field source told North Press that the government forces targeted, with dozens of shells, positions in the villages and towns of Arnaba, Bara, Feteira, Kansafra, and Sefohen in Zawiya Montain, south of Idlib.

The source added that the government forces also targeted fortifications of the opposition groups in the villages of Ankawi and Qelidin in the Ghab Plain region, northwest Hama.

He pointed out that the government bombing caused widespread destruction of the infrastructure and public and private properties, without any reports on human casualties among the military or civilians.

On November 23, the Syrian government forces targeted the populated neighborhoods of the town of Bara in Zawiya Mountain.

The area has been witnessing military escalation and mutual shelling between the government forces and the armed opposition groups amid talks about an upcoming military operation displacing dozens of civilians from the southern area of Idlib.

Idlib, Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia have been subjected to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March to hold up all military operations in the area.
