Casualties due to bombing on Iranian militias’ positions in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
(North Press) – Unidentified aircraft bombed on Thursday, sites of Iranian militias in the dessert of al-Jala’a and al-Hamdan regions, west of Abu Kamal, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The airstrike targeted the sites of the “Liwa Zainebiyoun” militias, which is believed to be carried out by Israel, resulted in casualties.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the bombing killed 19 militants of Zainebiyoun militias, including two leaders, with reports about other deaths.
It added that the bombing caused the destruction of sites and vehicles, in addition to serious cases among the inured, which may rise the number of deaths.
At the beginning of November, unidentified aircraft carried out air strikes on the desert of Ma’adan Atiq, in the southeastern countryside of the Raqqa governorate, without reports of casualties.
The Islamic State (ISIS) is active in the targeting area, and there are Syrian militias loyal to Iran, and non-Syrian militias.
Last month, the Global Coalition Air Forces targeted several Iranian and Iraqi militia sites in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, killing and injuring dozens.
On November 21, unidentified aircraft, likely to be Israeli, launched an air strike on Iranian sites in the Abu Kamal region, killing militants of non-Syrian nationalities.
Since the civil war broke out in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of raids in Syria against Tehran-backed Hezbollah and Iranian forces supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad, as well as government forces.
