Uzbek Foreign Ministry delegation visits Syria’s Autonomous Administration regions

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A delegation of the Uzbek government headed by Mehriddin Khayriddinov, Prime Minister Advisor of the Republic of Uzbekistan, arrived on Thursday, at the Department of Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria(AANES) in Qamishli. 

The delegation was received by Abdulkarim Omar, the co-chair of the AANES Department of Foreign Relations. 

The Department of Foreign Relations posted on its Facebook page that the two sides discussed the general situation in Syria and in the AANES regions, in addition to the political process, the need to resolve the Syrian crisis in accordance with international decisions and the repercussions of the Turkish intervention in the region.

There was also talk about the health system of northeastern Syria in light of the spread of coronavirus, and the need to reopen al-Yaroubiyah Border Crossing to provide humanitarian aid and requirements to the residents of the region to confront the pandemic. 

The two sides also called for the international community to hold its responsibilities regarding the Hawl Camp issue and the families of the Islamic State (ISIS).

In mid-October, a Swedish government delegation, headed by Per Orenus, arrived in northeastern Syria.

Orenus said that many countries want to involve the AANES in the Syrian negotiations.
