A civilian killed due to shelling by Syrian government forces on Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian government forces continued on Monday, shelling the positions of the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in the villages and towns of Idlib governorate, northwestern Syria, causing casualties and material damage.

The government forces targeted, with heavy artillery and missiles, the populated neighborhoods of the town of Bara in Zawiya Mountain, southern Idlib, a field source told North Press.

The source added that the shelling resulted in the killing of a young man, in addition to causing severe damage to public property in the town.

The government forces targeted the towns of Kansafra, Fetaira, and Feleifel in Zawiya Mountain in accordance with intense flight of Russian Air Force drones.

On Sunday, the Turkish military established a new military post near the village of Ruwaiha, Zawiya Mountain.

The area has been witnessing military escalation and mutual shelling between the government forces and the armed opposition groups amid talks about an upcoming military operation displacing dozens of civilians from the southern area of Idlib.

Idlib, Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia have been subjected to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March to hold up all military operations in the area.
