Russia accuses Syrian opposition of 31 attacks in Syria’s north west

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria accused on Sunday Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), formerly al-Nusra Front, of conducting 31 new attacks on de-escalation zone in Idlib, north west Syria, that was subjected to the ceasefire agreement signed between Moscow and Ankara.

This was reported in a statement by Marine Major General Alexander Grinkevich, chief of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria, which was headquartered in Hmeimim Air Base in Syria’s Latakia.

Grinkevich said that recently they have recorded about 14 attacks in Idlib, three in Aleppo, 12 in Latakia, and two in Hama.

Recently, the area has been witnessing a military escalation and mutual shelling between the Syrian government forces (SAA) and the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups (SNA), amid talks of an approaching military operation in Idlib.

The Russian reconciliation center accused early in November the Syrian armed opposition groups of preparations for attacks by drones in Idlib.

This came after The Russian Reconciliation Center warned about a potential false flag chemical attack by the opposition groups in Idlib, “the aim is to accuse the Syrian government forces of using chemical weapons against civilians,” the Russian Reconciliation Center stated.

Turkish-backed armed opposition groups denied Russian accusations of preparing false flag chemical attacks in Idlib, and said that these accusations always made to justify attacks against opposition-controlled areas.

Most of Idlib and parts of the governorates of Hama, Aleppo and Latakia have been subject since March to an agreement between Moscow and Ankara to stop military operations in the region.
