Syrian government forces target opposition headquarters in Syria’s south Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian government forces continued on Thursday, shelling armed opposition groups’ headquarters in villages and towns in the southern countryside of Idlib, which were subjected to the Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement.

The government forces targeted sites of the armed opposition groups in the villages and towns in Zawiya Mountain, southern Idlib, a local source told North Press.

The government shelling caused significant material damage to public facilities, infrastructure and civilian property, without reports about casualties, the source added.

The area has been witnessing military escalation and mutual shelling between the government forces and the armed opposition groups amid talks about an upcoming military operation displacing dozens of civilians from the southern area of Idlib.

Idlib, Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia have been subjected to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March to hold up all military operations in the area.
