Increasing of coronavirus deaths in Syria’s Suwayda amid launching distress calls
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – The number of deaths due to infection with coronavirus increased in the town of Salkhad in Syria’s Suwayda, in conjunction with the launch of the health authorities a distress call to confront the pandemic.
“The city and its countryside are witnessing an increase in the number of deaths in coronavirus, at the rate of one per day,” a medical source at al-Bassel Government Hospital in Salkhad city told North Press that.
As of Monday, Suwayda Governorate had recorded 251 infected cases, including 13 deaths and 131 recoveries, according to statistics published by the Syrian Ministry of Health in Damascus.
Two days ago, al-Bassel Hospital issued a distress call to the Health Directorate and Local Society in Suwayda that the pandemic has begun to take a dangerous turn, according to the source.
The source said that the last death case was on Monday, of a sixty-year-old man from the town of Orman.
The Health Directorate of Suwayda announced, last Thursday that the number of coronavirus cases reached 38 cases among students and administrators in the schools of Suwayda.
In addition, workers in the health sector of Suwayda indicated in previous interviews with North Press that “the number of infections is much greater than what is announced.”
“Government agencies must take immediate and rapid measures, such as closing schools in Salkhad areas, which are a source of the virus spread,” a medical source added.
